MUSCAT, JUNE 24

The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) on Wednesday launched three key national initiatives aimed at enhancing Oman’s data ecosystem, strengthening institutional integration and advancing digital transformation efforts in line with Oman Vision 2040.

The initiatives — the interactive “Atraj” application, the Coordination Portal for the State Administrative Apparatus and the Central Data Warehouse Project — were unveiled during a ceremony held at the Grand Millennium Muscat.

Dr Khalifa bin Abdullah al Barwani, Chief Executive Officer of NCSI, said the launch reflects the Centre’s continued commitment to developing the national statistical and information system, promoting statistical literacy and leveraging modern technologies to support evidence-based decision-making.

“The launch of these three national initiatives embodies our commitment to strengthening the statistical and information ecosystem and enabling the effective use of data in supporting sustainable development and informed policymaking,” he said.

On the Coordination Portal for the State Administrative Apparatus, Dr Al Barwani described it as a central digital platform designed to strengthen institutional coordination and collaboration across government entities.

The portal provides a secure and reliable environment for sharing reports, publications, studies, government projects, survey findings and public opinion research, enabling more efficient communication and knowledge exchange among stakeholders.

According to NCSI, the platform will support the systematic sharing of data, indicators and information, helping government institutions make better-informed decisions, formulate policies based on reliable evidence and maximise the use of institutional knowledge.

The third initiative, the Central Data Warehouse Project, represents a strategic step in Oman’s digital transformation journey by creating a comprehensive national platform for data management, integration and accessibility.

Dr Al Barwani said the project will contribute to unifying national data sources, improving data quality and reliability, and enhancing the availability of information for decision-makers, researchers and other beneficiaries.
