AL KAMIL W'AL WAFI: The Al Sharqiyah South Governorate’s Environment Monitoring Office organised the fourth edition of an environmental observation exercise at Al Saleel Natural Park in the Wilayat of Al Kamil W'al Wafi, in cooperation with the Environment Department in the governorate.

The exercise aimed to enhance the efficiency of national cadres operating in the field of environmental conservation.

The exercise focused on developing the skills of the participating teams in using modern technologies that support monitoring, GPS devices, trap cameras and drones. It sought to enable the participants to be familiar with proper legal procedures in issuing violation reports and statements. It also aimed to enhance the participants’ operational planning skills, teamwork and the exchange of expertise among their counterparts from different governorates.

The exercise stemmed from the growing role of environmental monitoring in protecting natural resources and preserving the elements of wildlife. It was in pursuance of previous monitoring exercises that focused on developing field performance and utilising technical outcomes in line with modern environmental developments.

The exercise contributed to raising the level of readiness among specialists handling environmental violations and issues of encroachment of wildlife habitats. - ONA
