Fourth camel race wraps up after 93 rounds in Barka

At the Al Felaij camel racing track, ‘Hashimah’ owned by the Royal Camel Corps delivered the fastest time in the Thanaya category, clocking 9:54.59 minutes to lead the closing day of the fourth race in Barka.


‘Raghad’ owned by Mohammed bin Sultan al Maliki recorded the best time of the day at 10:06.31 minutes, in the Al Hawl category marking one of the most notable performances of the final programme.


The event concluded on Thursday under the auspices of Shaikh Said bin Saud al Ghafli, Chairman of the Oman Camel Racing Federation, who honoured the winners of the final day.


The day's programme included six rounds for the Thanaya category, five years old. In addition to the six rounds for the Al Hawl category, six years and above, all contested over 6 km.


Organised by the Oman Camel Racing Federation, in cooperation with Royal Camel Racing (RCC), the race ran from November 16 to 20 at Al Felaij Track in the Wilayat of Barka, and featured strong participation and competitive fields throughout its five-day schedule.


The fourth race concluded after the completion of 93 rounds, distributed across all categories, with the Hagayeg category taking the largest share with 41 rounds, including 28 rounds over 3 km on the opening day, 13 rounds over 4 km on the second day, in addition to three human-rider rounds.


The third day featured 24 rounds for the Lagaya category over 5 km, followed by six valuation rounds for the Elythaa category on the fourth day, along with seven cash-prize rounds over 5 km. The final day wrapped up the programme with 12 rounds, equally divided into six rounds for the Thanaya category and six rounds for the Al Hawl category.
