MUSCAT: The excitement of camel racing continues as the second race of the season 2025–26 gets underway on Saturday, supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and organised by Oman Camel Racing Federation (OCRF).

The action will take place simultaneously for 102 rounds at three major tracks in two days, 36 rounds at the Al Felaij track in the Wilayat of Barka, 33 rounds at the Al Bashayer track in the Wilayat of Adam and 33 rounds will be at the Al Abyad track in the Wilayat of Sinaw.

The opening day will include 14 morning heats for the Hagayeg category, two years old, over 3 km at each track, followed by nine races for the Lagaya category, three years old, over 4 km. Al Felaij will also host three special races for human riders over a 2 km distance.

Sunday’s schedule will highlight the four rounds for the Elythaa category, four years old, over 5 km at each venue, in additions to three rounds for the Thanaya category, five year old, over 5 km, followed by three rounds for the Al Hawl categories, six years and above, bringing the total to 30 races on the second day.

All main rounds from each category will be crowned in the podium and a cash prize will be awarded to all top ten.

OCRF stressed the importance of adhering to all approved technical and organisational regulations to ensure a smooth and fair registration and participation process.

Also emphasised that online registration through the official platform is a mandatory requirement for participation and no applications will be accepted outside the designated system.

The federation highlighted the need to enter camel data accurately, including microchip numbers, owners and trainers, noting that camels with incomplete, inaccurate, or unregistered electronic data will not be allowed to participate.

It also required all participants to strictly comply with the announced registration deadlines and prohibit any modifications or delays after the system closes.

Any violations or late submissions will result in the disqualification of the camels from the races without exception, in order to ensure fairness and transparency in the competitions.
