MUSCAT: Oman’s drifter Ahmed al Amri emerged as champions of the Red Bull Car Park Drift 2024 World Final after delivering an impressive show on Friday night at the Muscat Drift Arena in Oman Automobile Association (OAA).
Oman’s drifters dominated the podium as the young drifter Haitham al Hadidi ended as runner-up while Egypt’s Hisham al Khatib claimed the third spot. Fourth place went to Lebanon’s Mohammed Chihab following an electrifying showdown among the world’s top drifters.
The prestigious one night event, featuring 28 drifters from 17 countries, unfolded on a track designed for intensity and skill, culminating in a proud moment for Omani motorsport. After an electrifying showdown, the chief guest His Highness Sayyid Fahr bin Fatik al Said delivered the awards to the top performers in presence of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth officials, dignitaries and World Record holder Abdo Feghali.
This year’s competition marked a return to glory for Oman rekindling memories of the country’s dominant performance in 2016 as the Omani drifters swept the podium including the drifter Haitham al Hadidi.
“It is great to rekindle the memories after my triumph in 2016. Thanks to all for their support and special appreciation goes to the huge audience who attended and cheered all Omani’s drifters in the final,” Haitham al Hadidi said.
The Muscat Drift Arena roared with excitement as competitors showcased their skills on one of the fastest and most challenging circuits in Red Bull Car Park Drift history. The track, designed by drifting legend and Guinness World Record holder Abdo Feghali, tested drivers’ precision, speed and ability to control their vehicles under extreme conditions.
Four Omani drifters, Ahmed al Amri, Haitham al Hadidi, Ali al Balushi and Tariq al Shaihani, took part in the final. Their performance reaffirmed the Sultanate of Oman’s position as a hub for drifting excellence, thrilling fans and solidifying Oman’s legacy in the sport.
The event saw participants who hailed from across the Middle East and beyond, including Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Palestine, alongside top drifters from Europe and Africa.
