Tough competition in Al Bashayer camel races

Adam: The Al Bashayer Festival for Arab camel races is underway with different activities taking place at Al Bashayer Camel Race track in Adam.


The third day activities on Wednesday continued as part of the Al Bashayer Festival under the auspices of Hilal bin Said al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah.


On the third day, the races were held in 15 rounds for the category of ‘Elytha’, which are four years old, for a distance of 6 km. The races were divided into two periods -- 11 races in the morning with cash prizes for the top 10 winners and four races in the afternoon with cup, gun and cars for first place and cash prizes for the top 10.


‘Tahther’ snatched the opening round, owned by Salim al Maliki, as it covered the race distance in 9 minutes and 32 seconds.


‘Al Swalaeyah’ claimed the second round, owned by Mohammed al Jenaibi and ‘Mubher’ owned by Humoud al Wahibi was ranked top in the third race. The fourth round race saw ‘Eshteal’ finish first, owned by Rashid al Wahibi. The fifth round was won by ‘Sharat’ owned by Mubark al Habsi, ‘Buhoor’ owned by Mohammed al Jahafi won the sixth, ‘Aldhabi’ owned Al Hamdi al Daree claimed the seventh round and the eighth race was claimed by ‘Asyrami’ owned by Said al Hashemi.


The ninth race was won by ‘Al Dhanah’ owned by Abdullah al Ahibi while ‘Awayed’ owned by Majed al Durei won the honours in the 10th round. In the 11th and last race of the morning session, ‘Al khroof’, owned by Awad al Balushi, finished first.

BIG ACHIEVEMENT


Abdullah bin Twarish al Wahibi, who won the ninth race through the camel ‘Al Dhanah’ said, “Winning in the Al Bashayer Festival is a big accomplishment especially at the end of the season. Our focus now is on the final day on Saturday and we are looking for first place.”


In the afternoon period, the competition was very strong within the GCC participants’ level with all looking for the top places.


The first round was dominated by Hejen al Bashayer through ‘Muteba’, trained by Humaid al Gahafi.


The second round was claimed by ‘Mub’ of Salim al Darei and recorded the best time in the km category with 9:07:88. The third round was won by Qatar’s Hamed bin Jahweel through ‘Dasman’.


‘Sagah’, owned by Mohammed al Khatri from UAE, clinched the concluding race of the third day.
