MUSCAT: Thundershowers of varying intensity are expected over parts of the Al Hajar Mountains and adjoining areas on Monday, October 19, with the possibility of hail and flowing wadis, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has warned.

The National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre issued an alert covering the period from noon to 7 pm, classifying the expected weather intensity as high.

An accompanying notice said chances of rain over the mountains and nearby areas could continue into the night.

Potential impacts include flowing wadis and streams, reduced horizontal visibility, occasional hail, lightning, downdraughts and rising dust.
