Muscat: The Oman Meteorology Office said low clouds, scattered rain and dusty conditions are expected to affect several parts of the Sultanate of Oman.

According to the weather forecast, low clouds are likely to develop over parts of the al Hajar Mountains and adjoining areas  with chances of sporadic rain as convective cloud activity builds.

Khareef clouds are also expected to continue over the coast of Dhofar and the neighbouring mountains, with the possibility of light rain in some areas.

Meanwhile, active winds are forecast to affect parts of the eastern and central governorates, including al Jazer, al Duqm, Mahout, al Ashkharah, Jalan Bani Bu Ali, Jalan Bani Bu Hasan, Sadah, Shaleem and the Hallaniyat Islands.

The authority warned that the winds could lead to blowing dust and reduced horizontal visibility in exposed areas.

The Met Office also said northern governorates are expected to experience dust and airborne particles, which may reduce visibility, particularly in open areas.

Residents and motorists have been advised to follow the latest weather updates and exercise caution in areas affected by reduced visibility, strong winds and rainfall.
