

SUHAR: Sohar University has launched the Dr Suleiman al Houqani Research Grant, supported by his family, in an initiative aimed at sustaining his scientific and humanitarian impact and contributing to advancing higher education and scientific research in the Sultanate of Oman.
The grant extends the legacy of the late Dr Al Houqani who was a steadfast supporter of science and education and a firm believer in the importance of knowledge and its role in human development and community service. The grant embodies the values of giving and investing in science and researchers, contributing to supporting new generations of researchers and sustaining the late doctor's scientific and intellectual legacy.
The grant places particular emphasis on PhD students and post-PhD researchers, in recognition of their momentous role in generating knowledge and building research capacity. It aims to enable researchers to dedicate themselves fully to their research and complete their theses, in addition to supporting outstanding research projects, participation in international scientific conferences, and publication in peer reviewed scientific journals.
Dr Hamdan al Fazari, Vice-Chancellor of Sohar University, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the family of Dr Al Houqani for their initiative, stating: “We extend our sincere thanks to the family of the late Dr Suleiman Al Houqani for this generous contribution. Investing in researchers and young minds is among the most sustainable and impactful forms of investment, reflecting a deep believe in the importance of scientific research and its role in serving society and development. We look forward to this grant contributing to the support of researchers and enhancing the quality of the university's research output”
Researcher Munira al Maqbali is among the beneficiaries of the grant. She said: “I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to the family of Dr Al Houqani for this generous support, which will enable me to continue my PhD studies at Sohar University and complete my research project while dedicating myself fully to research and scientific publication. I hope that the findings of this research will contribute to sustainability efforts and serve the industrial sector and society in the Sultanate of Oman”.
