GENEVA: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Education, won the prestigious World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prize for its Noor Educational Platform, recognising the country’s efforts in advancing digital transformation and innovation in education.
The award was presented in Geneva as part of the WSIS initiative, which recognises outstanding digital projects that contribute to building inclusive, sustainable, and technology-driven societies.
The recognition highlights the Noor platform’s role in supporting Oman’s digital education transformation and its contribution to improving the efficiency and accessibility of electronic educational services.
The Ministry of Education said the achievement reflects Oman’s commitment to developing modern education systems in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, particularly in the areas of technology adoption, innovation, and human development.
The Noor Educational Platform is an integrated digital learning system designed to connect students, teachers, and parents through a range of smart educational services.
The platform enables users to access digital learning materials, manage courses, submit and track assignments, communicate with educators, and monitor academic performance through a unified digital environment.
It also provides smart applications that allow beneficiaries to access services through different devices, supporting flexible learning and improving interaction between schools and families.
The ministry said the platform has contributed to enhancing the quality of education, strengthening digital capabilities, and expanding opportunities for technology-enabled learning.
The WSIS Prize is considered one of the prominent international recognitions for digital initiatives that demonstrate measurable social and developmental impact, highlighting projects that use technology to support inclusive growth and sustainable development. – ONA
