MUSCAT: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MoCSY) has launched the Excellence Competition for Libraries and Private Cultural Centres 2026 under the theme ‘Digital Innovation Award for Libraries and Private Cultural Centres.’ The launch coincided with the celebration of Arab Library Day, observed annually on March 10. The competition invites private libraries and cultural centres to present innovative digital ideas that could enhance library services and improve user experience through modern technologies. The initiative focuses on proposals that offer an integrated vision for the future of digital transformation in the cultural sector.


Participants are encouraged to submit creative ideas or initiatives aimed at developing services, activities, or communication methods with users, as well as digital solutions that can be applied within the environment of libraries and cultural centres.The competition aims to encourage innovative thinking in digital transformation, promote creative approaches to cultural services and activities and strengthen the role of libraries and community cultural centres as active partners in advancing cultural digital development.


Participation is open to private libraries and cultural centres registered with the ministry and holding valid licences. Entries will be evaluated based on the clarity of the idea, its applicability and the expected cultural and societal impact. — ONA
