MUSCAT: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), in partnership with WingTech Company, has launched the DroneX summer technical programme for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), under the auspices of Eng Nayef bin Ali al Abri, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority.

The programme reflects the Authority's ongoing efforts to refine and develop students' skills in modern technologies, enhance awareness of the safe and responsible use of drones, and prepare a qualified generation capable of keeping pace with the rapid advancements in the aviation sector and advanced technologies.

The programme targets school students from Grade 9 to Grade 11, offering a training experience that combines theoretical instruction with practical application. This contributes to developing their technical abilities and discovering their talents during the summer vacation, while broadening their horizons toward future specialisations and careers related to the civil aviation sector.

The programme comprises three training tracks, covering operational flight, technical maintenance, and the manufacturing, assembly, and piloting of First-Person View (FPV) drones. This enables participants to acquire advanced practical skills in accordance with best practices in the field.

The implementation of the DroneX programme falls within the framework of the strategic partnership between the Civil Aviation Authority and WingTech Company, reaffirming the commitment of both parties to developing young national competencies, fostering a culture of innovation, and promoting interest in modern aviation technologies. This aligns with the development objectives and Oman Vision 2040 in building a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy. — ONA
