MUSCAT: Acting in cooperation with Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah and Nizwa Hospital, a specialised medical team from Khoula Hospital’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery recently performed 8 high-quality shoulder surgeries as part of a programme of field visits.

The programme aimed to transfer expertise and expand the scope of specialised medical services beyond the Governorate of Muscat. The operations were in pursuance of ongoing national efforts to enhance integration among health institutions within the context of decentralisation in the Sultanate of Oman.

In Nizwa Hospital, the visiting team conducted the first two surgeries to replace the inverted shoulder joint. It also dealt with a variety of medical cases that required precise surgical intervention, thus sparing the patients the need to travel for treatment. — ONA
