MUSCAT: As part of national efforts to advance the digital economy and empower young people, the Oman Gaming & Esports Committee signed a memorandum of understanding with Active Oman Centre in a step aimed at strengthening the esports ecosystem in the Sultanate of Oman and supporting the goals of Oman Vision 2040.
The memorandum was signed by Eng Saba bint Said al Busaidy, Chairperson of the Oman Gaming & Esports Committee, and Nawfal bin Salem al Khanjari, General Manager of Active Oman Centre. The partnership aims to launch and organise a range of tournaments and specialised events, alongside the development of training and qualification programmes designed to strengthen capabilities within the sector. It also seeks to raise public awareness of esports as a promising field that can contribute to the digital economy and open quality opportunities for Omani youth in innovation, competition and emerging digital industries.
Both parties described the memorandum as a strategic step towards empowering national talent, supporting players and encouraging specialised initiatives in one of the world’s fastest-growing sectors. They added that the next phase will include a series of joint programmes and initiatives that will help reinforce Oman’s presence on the regional and international esports map.
