NIZWA: The activities of the seventh Health Leaders Forum of the Ministry of Health commenced on Wednesday in the Wilayat of Nizwa, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.

Held under the theme "Integration and Advancement," the two-day forum aims to review the status of the health system in the Sultanate of Oman, monitor its performance, discuss key challenges, and explore solutions to enhance and elevate its services. The opening of the forum was held under the auspices of Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health.

The organisation of the forum comes within the framework of the Ministry of Health’s efforts to strengthen effective health leadership capable of keeping pace with national transformations and supporting the objectives of the 2026-2030 Five-Year Plan. This is achieved by discussing strategic themes related to performance development, governance and the integrated response to health challenges.

Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health, emphasised the importance of such specialised forums, which serve as a strategic platform for enhancing direct communication with health leaders at the ministry and exchanging visions and expertise to develop the institutional work system.

He noted that previous forums undertook a significant role and achieved a clear, tangible impact within the ministry by supporting integration across leadership levels, enhancing performance efficiency and establishing a culture of collaborative work, which reflects positively on the quality and outcomes of health services.

Furthermore, the Minister underscored the pivotal role undertaken by the Ministry of Health in supporting the path of comprehensive development, noting that the coming phase will witness the implementation of further qualitative initiatives and development projects aimed at elevating the health sector, enhancing its readiness, and aligning with national priorities and future aspirations.

Dr Ahmed bin Salim al Mandhari, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Health for Planning and Health Regulation, affirmed that the strategic directions of the health sector within the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) represent a pivotal step in the journey of developing the health system in the Sultanate of Oman and a practical launch towards achieving the goals of Oman Vision 2040.

Additionally, Brigadier Dr Saleh bin Saud al Abri, Director-General of the Medical City Hospital for Military and Security Services, delivered a presentation addressing an integrated strategic vision for transformation in the health sector.

He reviewed the current state of the health system and highlighted existing challenges alongside rapid global shifts in the health field — particularly regarding innovation, digital transformation, and the growing role of data and artificial intelligence in supporting decision-making — as well as the evolving expectations of beneficiaries for higher quality and more efficient services.

The forum witnessed the honouring of 23 innovative initiatives at the level of the General-Directorate of Health Services for Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, in addition to several doctors and health institutions, in recognition of their efforts and contributions to the development of health work. - ONA
