SADAH: The Office of the Wali of Sadah, Dhofar Governorate, on Tuesday organised a symposium titled “Frankincense in Sadah: A renewed heritage and sustainable innovations”.

The symposium focused on the historical and economic importance of the frankincense tree in the Wilayat of Sadah and discussed investment opportunities in this industry, in addition to marketing of the product in Oman and abroad.

The symposium was held under the auspices of Shaikh Ahmed bin Ali al Daree, Wali of Sadah. It underscored three main themes: "The Historical role of frankincense in the Wilayat of Sadah", "Modern uses of frankincense based on scientific evidence" and "Investment in frankincense and marketing its products locally and globally.” Al Daree said that research and investment in frankincense industry constitute opportunities for supporting economic diversification and preserving this heritage for future generations. — ONA
