

BARKA: An atmosphere of excitement and competitive spirit marked the Al Mutamayiz Equestrian Institute Arena in Barka during the Ramadhan Showjumping Competition, organised under the supervision of the Oman Equestrian Federation and held under the auspices of Sayyid Munthir bin Saif bin Hamad al Busaidy, Chairman of the Federation’s Board of Directors.
The event witnessed strong participation from riders representing various public and private stables, alongside a large crowd of equestrian enthusiasts, reflecting the growing popularity of showjumping in the Sultanate of Oman.
The competition featured four categories with varying jump heights, showcasing the technical progress and diversity of riding talents.
In the 90cm class, Owais bin Mohammed al Hoqani secured first place with a composed and faultless performance. Mohammed bin Abdullah al Balushi finished second, while Jamal bin Ahmed al Raisi claimed third place.
The 70cm open class saw intense competition, with Imran bin Azzan al Maamari taking top honours. Al Hussein bin Talal al Maashari placed second, followed by Abdulrahman bin Abdullah al Mijaini in third.
In the 70cm Under-16 category, Ahmed bin Fahmi al Harrasi delivered an outstanding round to claim first place. Mutasim bin Ahmed al Kalbani finished second, while Eman bint Nasser al Rashdi secured third, highlighting the strong presence of female riders in the sport.
The final 50cm class concluded the event with Mahdi Jaffar earning first place, Basil bin Adil al Maashari finishing second, and Al Yazan bin Younis al Sooli taking third.
The competition was supported by several private sector sponsors, led by Awtaad Real Estate Development as the main sponsor, alongside Jabal Al Hajar (Platinum Sponsor), TARGET (Gold Sponsor), and Ibn Yaqoub, Al Khail Wal Khayal, and SADA Villas as Silver Sponsors — demonstrating effective collaboration between the sports and business sectors.
At the conclusion of the event, the patron crowned the winners in a celebratory ceremony that reflected the event’s organisational and technical success.
The institute’s management expressed great satisfaction with the competition’s success, emphasising that beyond competition, the event aimed to instil values such as discipline, commitment, sportsmanship, and responsibility, while enhancing riders’ confidence and technical skills.
They also highlighted the positive social and economic impact of the event, noting the strong public turnout that contributed to increased commercial activity. The institute further announced its ambition to host international competitions in the future to elevate competitive standards and strengthen its regional and global presence in equestrian sports.
