

Muscat: Irish drifter Tommy Kiely clinched the top honours while Shanahan brothers Jack and Conor completed an Irish sweep of the overall championships in second and third respectively as the Oman International Drift Championship (OIDC) 2026 made a grand conclusion at the weekend.
Jack Shanahan claimed the top spot in the third and final round at the Muscat Drift Arena to come close for the overall title but Kiely edged Jack by one point. After three rounds, Kiely had 232 points while Jack ended second with 231 points. Conor Shanahan claimed third spot with 221 points.
Kiely made it to the Top 8 in the last round to secure enough points for the day.
In the third round, Egyptian Karim Rashed took second spot, while Salim al Saraf of Kuwait was third.
Karim Rashed topped the overall standings in Mena section, followed by Khalifa al Falasi of the United Arab Emirates and Abdullah Hamada of Jordan.
In the national category, Haitham al Hadidi took the top spot, while Ahmed al Amri was second and Tariq al Shaihani finished third.
In the third round, Al Hadidi finished third in Mena section and topped the national section with Ali al Balushi and Ahmed al Amri taking the second and third spots respectively.
The third round Mena section was topped by Karim Rashed with Salim al Saraf in second.
Karim was fourth in overall standings with 150 points and Khalifa al Falasi completed the top five with 147 points.
OMANIS IMPRESS
Five Omanis made to the Top 32 in the last round including Haitham al Hadidi, Ali al Balushi, Riyadh al Mabsali, Tariq al Shaihani and Ahmed al Amri to cap an impressive performance of the local drivers in OIDC 2026.
The Round 1 on January 15 and 16, was won by Ahmed Daham of Jordan with Kiely second and Conor third.
Kiely won the title in the Round 2 on January 28 and 29. Conor was second Abdullah Hamada finished third.
The Oman Automobile Association (OAA) organised OIDC 2026 completed the third round in front of a packed house as 65 drifters entered the qualifying round on February 5 at the Muscat Drift Arena.
The event was organised by the OAA under the chairmanship of Brigadier Jamal bin Said al Tai, managing director Suleiman al Rawahi and race director Fahmi al Busaidy. Shell was the main sponsor.
The event was supported by comprehensive logistical preparations and world-class spectator facilities, ensuring an exceptional experience for the large crowds that flocked to the OAA facility.
