An exhibition of the Sultanate of Oman's unique tradition in silver is currently underway, drawing art lovers, diplomats and cultural enthusiasts at the Diplomatic Club.

Named 'Silver — An Omani Heritage', the Solo Spotlight by Elizabeth Davis was graced by Ana Escrogima, Ambassador of the US to Oman and Dr Siham al Harthy, OCCI Board Member.

The artist has turned her creativity and genuine thoughts into converting the silver pieces into a world where threads of heritage are spun with emotion, memory and artistry.

Each artwork tells a story — told not just in paint and print, but in feeling. It captures the essence of Oman, breathing new life into its timeless traditions. It is where the canvas becomes the setting, jewellery the language and heritage becomes art.

Elizabeth, who is well known for her experimental approach, has incorporated unconventional materials such as paper, plastic bottles, wrapping paper, glass beads, medicine capsules and plastic wrap, transforming discarded objects into thoughtful artistic expressions. The use of recycled and everyday materials adds another layer to the exhibition, subtly commenting on sustainability while elevating the ordinary into the poetic.

Speaking to the Observer, Elizabeth said, “There is a strong influence of Omani culture in my work as I have been here for a long time and have always been enchanted with the diversity and beauty of the landscape, culture and people. I have always been influenced by the Impressionism movement and most of my work of art is based on this”. She explained that while the creative process begins slowly, with time spent waiting for the muse and conceptual clarity, the execution itself often happens swiftly. “I do not have a fixed time — it all depends on my mood”, she added, smiling, noting that her three daughters-in-law are all her biggest critics and her first viewers.

"The silver collections of Elizabeth are to be seen, to be felt physically. It will leave memories to cherish a journey of tradition and honour. It is silver that shimmers and silently glows And into our soul, it flows and echoes", said the guests.

The exhibition will run for a month and showcases 45 artworks, including paintings, mixed-media works on wood and sculptures — all unified by a striking silver palette.
