Promotional campaigns boost tourism revenues and visitor numbers

MUSCAT: High-quality digital and promotional campaigns organised by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in key tourist markets globally have helped drive up tourist arrivals while sustaining the wider growth of Oman’s tourism industry.


According to Haitham al Ghassani, Director General of Tourism Promotion, these initiatives aim to increase tourist numbers from target markets and raise hotel occupancy rates across the various governorates. The Sultanate of Oman boasts approximately 1,400 hotels and more than 15 integrated tourism complexes.


The Ministry continues to implement its promotional programmes in collaboration with partners in the public and private sectors, contributing to attracting more visitors and enhancing the diverse tourism experiences offered by Oman’s various governorates. Furthermore, the sector also helps create jobs while unlocking ample opportunities for productive families and small and medium-sized enterprises.


In addition to generating economic returns, the sector recorded more than 325,000 hotel nights during 2025. This reflects the efficiency of promotional spending and its ability to achieve tangible results, confirming the role of media and marketing activities, both digital and traditional, in achieving broad reach. These efforts have contributed to enhancing the perception of the Sultanate of Oman as a diverse and authentic tourist destination, Al Ghassani said.


By the end of 2025, Oman had welcomed approximately 3.9 million visitors from around the world, reflecting a notable diversity in its source markets. The tourism sector's contribution to the GDP increased from about 1.6 percent in 2020 to approximately 2.7 percent by the end of 2024. Also, the Tenth Five-Year Development Plan saw tourism investments valued at approximately RO 2.6 billion, with all phases completed during the current plan in which further enhancing Oman's appeal as a tourist and investment destination.
