Seeb face ES Sahel today in Arab Club volleyball quarters

Muscat: Seeb Club of Oman meets Tunisian side Etoile Sportive du Sahel on Wednesday, in the quarterfinals of the 44th Arab Clubs Men’s Volleyball Championship, currently being held in Tunis, Tunisia. In other quarterfinal ties, Esperance Sportive de Tunis take on Police SC (Qatar), Al Ittihad (Libya) face Al Swehly SC (Libya), and Qatar SC plays Al Muharraq (Bahrain).

Seeb earned their place in the last eight after producing a commanding performance against Algeria’s Tadjenanet, securing a straight-set victory (25–15, 25–14, 25–21) and showcasing their quality and ambition in the competition.

From the outset, Seeb dominated with organised performance, solid defence and swift attacking play. They wrapped up the first set comfortably (25–15), maintained their edge in the second (25–14) with coordinated offence and constant pressure, and then closed out the third set (25–21) despite a spirited comeback attempt from Tadjenanet, demonstrating composure in the crucial points to clinch a well-deserved win and boost morale ahead of the quarterfinal clash.

The result confirmed Seeb’s qualification from Group 1, which finished with ES Tunis at the top on eight points, followed by Qatar SC and Al Swehly SC with six points each, while Seeb placed fourth with four points ahead of Tadjenanet, who finished without a point.

MAJEES OUT

Meanwhile, Majees Club bowed out of the championship following a thrilling five-set defeat to Libya’s Al Ittihad in the group stage, one of the most competitive matches of the tournament. Both teams traded control early on. Al Ittihad captured the first set (25–18), Majees responded in the second (25–18), and the teams continued trading sets through the third and fourth, forcing a decisive fifth. In the final set, small margins made the difference, and Al Ittihad edged the contest 15–13.

Majees depart with heads held high after a valiant display that reflected the competitive spirit of Omani volleyball on the Arab stage.

Group 2 standings saw ES Sahel finish top with a perfect 12 points, followed by Al Ittihad with eight points, Al Muharraq of Bahrain and Police SC of Qatar on six points each, Majees on four points and the Palestinian Forces club without a point.
