Oman crowned Arab Beach Volleyball Champions

In men's category Oman clinched the first place with gold medal, Tunisia came second with silver, while Algeria came third with bronze. In the women’s category Morocco took first place with gold medal, while Lebanon came second with silver, and Algeria came third with bronze.

Oman beach volleyball team, comprising Hood al Jalboobi and Ahmed al Hosni, amerged champions of the 30th edition of Arab Beach Volleyball Championship as they captured the title following a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Tunisia in the final clash on Saturday night at the sands court of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher. The first half ended for Oman team by 18-16 before Tunisia registered a comeback by winning the set by 35-37 after tight half. In the deciding half, Oman players managed to confirm the victory by recording 21-18 to clinch the title.


In the women’s category, Morocco emerged victorious in the 20th edition of Arab Women’s Beach Volleyball Championship after they defeated Lebanon in straight sets (2–0) to claim the gold medal.


Oman’s second team, represented by duo Nooh al Jalboobi and Yousuf al Abri, finished in fourth place after they suffered to a 2-0 loss against Algeria in the bronze medal match. The Algerian team thus secured the men’s bronze medal, while Algeria’s women’s team also claimed third place after defeating Saudi Arabia (2–0) in the third and fourth playoff.


Speaking after the victory, Hood al Jalboobi expressed his pride and gratitude for the team’s achievement. “ This achievement did not come in an easy way but it was managed through hard work, teamwork and determination. This victory is a triumph and dedicated for our fans and for everyone who supported us throughout our preparation and during the championship.” He added


Al Jalboobi thanked Oman Volleyball Association (OVA) and the coaching staff for their constant guidance and motivation, emphasising that this win will serve as a strong motivation to continue improving and representing Oman with honour in future regional and international tournaments especially at the next assignment which began on Sunday at West Asian Beach Volleyball tour.


The championship, organised by the Oman Volleyball Association (OVA) in coordination with Arab Volleyball Federation during October 15 to 18, concluded under auspices of Mohammed bin Issa al Fairouz, Chairman of International Tent Pegging Federation, in presence of Eng Ibrahim al Maqbali, chairman of Oman Volleyball Association (OVA). At the conclusion of the final match, the guest of honour, alongside Chairman of OVA and Vice-President of the Arab Volleyball Federation, and members of the tournament’s committee, awarded the gold, silver, and bronze medals to the top three teams in both categories.


The championship featured 18 teams from seven Arab countries including: Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Sudan. Oman, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. Each participated took part in the event with two men’s and two women’s teams, while Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, and Sudan fielded one men’s team each.


WAVA BEACH VOLLEYBALL TOUR


After a successful hosting of the Arab Beach Volleyball Championship, OVA began actions of West Asian Volleyball tour in Muscat on Sunday in presence of 11 teams for the Men’s while 10 teams for the women category. Oman teams in the Men’s competitions will be represented by team A comprised from the champions Hood al Jalboobi and Ahmed al Hosni while team B featured from Dawood and Al Buraiki beside team C comprised from Nooh and Yousef and team D featured from Khalfan and Saleh. At women’s category, Maryam and Liqaa will represent Oman team A while Fatma and Amna will comprise team B and Al Shaima and Furat in team C.
