HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, graced the opening ceremony of Active Oman Centre and Oman Shooting Club in April 2025 at the Oman Automobile Association in Muscat Governorate.


The Oman Shooting Club comprises six indoor shooting ranges equipped with state-of-the-art technologies and built to international standards. Meanwhile, Active Oman includes padel courts, acrobatics halls, snooker and billiards areas, digital golf area, a bowling hall, dedicated zones for car and motorcycle racing, and an international karting circuit.


National Olympic Shooting Complex – Strategic Achievement


The National Olympic Shooting Complex stands as one of the most prominent national achievements in sports infrastructure. It was inaugurated by HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, in May 2025, in Bausher, Muscat Governorate, as a fully integrated shooting facility built in accordance with the highest international standards approved by the International Shooting Sport Federation.


The complex includes a main building covering 2,400 square metres, a 10-metre range spanning 2,700 square metres with 80 targets, a 25-metre range over 2,900 square metres with 50 targets, and a 50-metre range covering 2,600 square metres with 80 targets. It also features a finals hall measuring 1,600 square metres, in addition to spectator stands, making it one of the most advanced shooting facilities in the region.


Ibra Sports Complex – Major Addition


The Ibra Sports Complex represents a major addition to sports infrastructure in Al Sharqiyah North Governorate and hosted the final of the His Majesty the Sultan’s Football Cup for the 2024–25 season, following its inauguration in February 2025.


Constructed in an area of 262,000 square metres at a cost of RO 12.8 million, the complex includes a stadium with a capacity of 15,000 spectators, a multi-purpose indoor sports hall, an Olympic swimming pool with 10 lanes measuring 50 metres by 25 metres, a natural grass football pitch, a secondary pitch with an athletics track, VIP stands and fully integrated service facilities meeting international standards.


Hockey Oman Stadium – Global Platform


Hockey Oman Stadium emerged as a strategic addition to national sports infrastructure in January 2024, hosting the Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifiers with the participation of eight international teams, competing for three Olympic qualification spots, as well as the Hockey5s World Cup Oman 2024.


The complex includes two main international-standard pitches, training fields, and spectator stands accommodating more than 5,000 fans, alongside administrative, medical, VIP and broadcast facilities. The project was completed within five months.


Camel Racing Tracks Project – Royal Support


Royal directives issued by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik during 2024–25 allocated RO 6.5 million for the rehabilitation and construction of 11 camel racing tracks across the Sultanate of Oman, marking one of the most significant national initiatives supporting traditional sports infrastructure.

Shaikh Saud bin Said al Ghufaili, Chairman of the Oman Camel Racing Federation, said: “Work has officially commenced at the Suhar Camel Racing Track in Al Batinah North Governorate, marking the first phase of the Royal support programme for camel racing tracks across Oman.”


Al Ghufaili added: “Further tracks are currently undergoing phased development under the supervision of the Oman Camel Racing Federation.”


Duqm Camel Racing Track – Strategic Partnership


The Special Economic Zone at Duqm signed a cooperation agreement in 2024 to fund the construction of a camel racing track in Duqm, covering an area of 4.8 million square metres with a total length of 6 km, at a cost of RO 350,000, in accordance with specifications approved by the Oman Camel Racing Federation.


The project includes side barriers for the track, seven starting gates, distance guidance signage, race monitoring towers, spectator stands, and a dedicated VIP platform.


Seeb Stadium Auxiliary Pitch – Facility Upgrade


The Oman Football Association commenced the rehabilitation of the auxiliary pitch at Seeb Sports Stadium in August 2024, with support from Fifa and the Asian Football Confederation, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance football infrastructure.


The project included replacing artificial turf with natural grass and adding changing rooms and spectator stands, contributing to improved training environments for national teams and youth development programmes.


Al Mudhaibi Club Facilities – Community Development


The inauguration of the artificial turf pitch for Al Wafi Andam Team, affiliated with Al Mudhaibi Club, in December 2025, represented a notable community-driven sports achievement, constructed at a cost of RO 38,000 under the auspices of the Wali of Al Mudhaibi.


In the same wilayat, sports infrastructure witnessed further enhancement with the opening of the new indoor sports hall at Al Mudhaibi Club in January 2025. The hall features spectator stands for over 500 fans, a VIP platform, player changing rooms, first aid and referee rooms, administrative facilities, a high-quality multi-use synthetic floor, modern lighting systems. The venue hosted school sports events, in addition to launching basketball and volleyball training centres for youth and juniors.
