MUSCAT: The third edition of the National Discounts and Promotions Campaign, branded “Oman Celebrates”, will be launched on Wednesday in Muscat, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion has announced.
Organised in partnership with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and the Consumer Protection Authority, the campaign marks the anniversary of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s accession to the throne. The launch ceremony will be held under the auspices of Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI).
Running from January 11 to February 11, the campaign builds on the strong performance of earlier editions. The second edition attracted 814 participating outlets, an increase of more than 154 per cent compared to the first, highlighting growing business and consumer engagement.
The initiative aims to stimulate commercial activity, strengthen public-private sector cooperation and provide essential goods at affordable prices. It also seeks to support retailers and brands by boosting sales and enhancing their market presence across the Sultanate of Oman.
Nasra bint Sultan al Habsiyah, Director General of Trade at the ministry, said participating outlets will offer discounts of at least 30 per cent, alongside promotions such as raffles, prizes and instant gifts. All offers will be governed by clear regulations to ensure transparency and protect consumer rights.
She added that applications will be submitted through the ‘Oman Business’ platform, with a unified process for companies operating in multiple governorates, helping to streamline procedures and speed up participation.
Considered one of Oman’s largest commercial events, the campaign features wide participation from retailers nationwide, supported by an extensive promotional and advertising programme targeting a broad segment of the public, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. — ONA
