BARKA: The Ladies’ Local Endurance Ride over 100 kilometres for the 2025/2026 season concluded in the Wilayat of Barka, organised by the Oman Equestrian Federation, under the auspices of Sayyid Mundhir bin Saif bin Hamad al Busaidy, Chairman of the Federation’s Board, following strong competition across three demanding phases.

The race saw Huboob Muscat clinch the gold medal and first place, continuing its dominance this season after previously winning the National Day Cup, the victory was achieved under the ownership of Hala bint Mohammed al Turki, with rider Zamzam bint Hamad al Hasni delivering an impressive performance, guided by trainer Hamad bin Saeed al Saeedi.

Speaking after her victory, Zamzam al Hasni expressed her delight with the achievement, saying: “Winning the Ladies’ 100 km endurance title is a major milestone for me. The race was physically and technically challenging, and this success reflects the teamwork and support I received throughout the season.”

Second place and the silver medal went to Shalbi, owned and trained by Mohammed bin Saif al Duhaili and ridden by Anne Fekody, while Makarim secured third place and the bronze medal for owner and trainer Ali bin Marhoon al Hasni, with rider Hameeda bint Saeed al Maawaliyah.

Saeed bin Matar, Director of Muscat Stud, congratulated the winners and praised the organisation of the event, stating: “I would like to congratulate Mohammed al Duhaili on his strong second-place finish and commend the federation for the excellent organisation of the race.” Also added “What we still lack as stud owners in Oman is suitable infrastructure for young foals, which is essential to further develop local breeding and sustain excellence in endurance racing.”

The event also witnessed the qualification of several horses over the 40 km and 80 km distances as part of ongoing development programmes. The competition concluded with the prize-giving ceremony honouring the top finishers, as well as recognising supporting and sponsoring entities, including Al Khail Wal Khayal, Al Mahamid Stud, Muscat Leading Marble, Al Mahamid Works and Al Musannah Cement Products Factory.
