First camel race of the 2025–2026 season concluded

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MoCSY), represented by the Oman Camel Racing Federation (OCRF), concluded the first camel race of the 2025–2026 season on Sunday with exciting competitions held simultaneously at Al Felaij track in the Wilayat of Barka and Al Bashayer track in the Wilayat of Adam, attracting a large turnout of spectators.

At Al Felaij, the highlight was ‘Al Tayarah’, owned by the Royal Camel Corps (RCC), which clinched first place in the opening round. RCC’s camels ‘Amjad’ and ‘Nojood’ also secured top spots in the other feature rounds.

Meanwhile, at Al Bashayer track, ‘Asrar’ owned by Mohsen bin Ali al Wahibi, ‘Shawahen’ owned by Abdullah bin Saeed al Ghafili, and ‘Al Asimah’ owned by Ali bin Mohammed al Jahafi dominated the main rounds, impressing fans with their strong performances.

OCRF announced valuable prizes this season, including cash awards for the top 10 finishers in each race, along with cars, khanjars (traditional daggers), swords and trophies

The final day featured nearly 500 camels from across the Sultanate of Oman, competing in 24 rounds — including 12 for the Al Yetha category (four years old, 4 km), six for the Thanaya category (five years old, 5 km), and six for the Al Houl category (six years and above, 5 km). The wide participation reflected the growing popularity and competitiveness of camel racing in the Sultanate of Oman.
