Al Buraimi: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has commenced the implementation of a project to construct five new bridges on the Sohar–Buraimi Road, at a total cost exceeding RO 6 million.
The ministry stated that the project has reached an actual completion rate of 8 per cent so far, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure and improve the road network across the Sultanate of Oman.
The project has been awarded to Al Rimal for Comprehensive Technical Services in partnership with Bajan Sant Mapana. The implementation period is set at 18 months, with completion scheduled by the end of 2026 in line with the approved timeline.
The project aims to enhance road safety and improve traffic flow along one of the country’s key national roads. The Sohar–Buraimi Road serves as a vital link between border crossings in Al Buraimi Governorate and other governorates of the Sultanate, playing an important role in supporting trade and economic activity.
The initiative forms part of the ministry’s broader strategy to maintain a safe and integrated road network and to support comprehensive development across the various governorates of the Sultanate.
