The Sultanate of Oman has awarded contracts worth RO 89.7 million for the design and construction of 42 fully integrated school buildings across various governorates.


In a post on its official account, the Projects, Tenders and Local Content Authority (previously known as the General Secretariat of the Tender Board) announced that the Ministry of Education will implement the projects, which aim to meet the growing demand for modern educational facilities in line with the Sultanate of Oman’s development priorities.


The projects cover all regions of Oman, reflecting a balanced approach to infrastructure development. Musandam Governorate will see the construction of a girls’ school, while Al Buraimi and Al Dhahirah Governorates will each receive new schools for girls.


In Muscat Governorate, the plan includes three shared schools (Cycle 1), one boys’ school and one girls’ school. Al Dakhiliyah will have two new girls’ schools and one boys’ school, while Al Sharqiyah North Governorate will receive two girls’ schools and one shared Cycle 1 school. Al Sharqiyah South Governorate will have one boys’ school, one girls’ school and one shared school for both boys and girls (grades 1–12).


Al Batinah North Governorate will witness the largest share, with four shared schools (Cycle 1), six girls’ schools and two boys’ schools. Meanwhile, Al Batinah South Governorate will receive one shared school (Cycle 1), five girls’ schools and two boys’ schools. Al Wusta Governorate will have one boys’ school and Dhofar Governorate is set to receive two shared schools (Cycle 1) and two boys’ schools.


These new school buildings are designed as integrated educational facilities, equipped to provide high-quality learning environments for students.


The total value of the awarded contracts amounts to RO 89,720,093. The move underlines the government’s continued investment in education as part of Oman Vision 2040 objectives to enhance human capital and support sustainable development.


The projects are expected to stimulate the construction sector, create job opportunities and contribute to local content development through partnerships with contractors and suppliers across the Sultanate of Oman.


The Authority highlighted that these projects reflect the government’s commitment to providing modern and accessible educational services in all governorates, ensuring that students benefit from improved infrastructure and learning facilities.
