Al Rahba racecourse hosts the 8th horse racing event

BARKA: Al Rahba Horse Racing Track in the Wilayat of Barka hosted the eighth race meeting of the season, organised under the supervision of the Head of Horse Racing, Retired Brigadier First Class Abdulrazzaq bin Abdulqader al Shuhourzi. The event drew a large crowd of horse owners, trainers, jockeys and racing enthusiasts and featured strong competition across eight races, highlighting the continued progress of horse racing in the Sultanate of Oman.


The meeting opened with an impressive performance in the first race, where the filly Bantoot EZ claimed victory under jockey Mohammed bin Mahmoud al Farsi, trained by Ashraf bin Darwish al Hammadi, Najm Ibri finished second, followed by Azzam ME in third.

The second race saw Al Dastour deliver a commanding run to secure first place with jockey Ahmed bin Salem al Siyabi, trained by Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Balushi, Following the race, Al Balushi expressed his satisfaction with the result, stating that the win was “the outcome of consistent preparation and careful training over the past period,” adding that the horse responded perfectly to the race plan, Zelzal finished second, while Ghawash al Shahania came in third.


Reflecting on the overall standard of the event, a participating horse owner praised the organisation and level of competition, noting that Al Rahba Racecourse “has become a key venue for horse racing, offering competitive races that motivate owners and stables to continuously improve performance.”

In the third race, Dhiban captured first place under jockey Al Mutasim bin Said al Balushi, trained by Badr bin Mohammed al Hajri. Al Mutasim highlighted the importance of teamwork in achieving the victory, explaining that the horse showed strong form throughout the race and that the success came from “excellent coordination between the trainer, the stable and the jockey.” Classic Medal finished second, while Yukon Star secured third place.


The fourth race was won by the mare Yasrah, ridden by Mohammed bin Mahmoud al Farsi and trained by Mohammed bin Issa al Balushi, ahead of Jadal in second and AGS Burkan in third.


In the fifth race, Majd Bisyah claimed the top spot with jockey Mazen bin Mubarak al Yahyai and trainer Habib bin Ahmed al Balushi, followed by Al Aasif SB in second and Hader in third.


The sixth race featured a strong showing by the mare Al Taghrouda, who crossed the line first under jockey Wathab bin Said al Balushi, trained by Mohammed bin Said al Saeedi, Saadat Muscat finished second, while Iram placed third.

In the seventh race, Rajeh Muscat secured victory with jockey Hamad bin Abdullah al Balushi and trainer Mohammed bin Saeed al Saeedi, ahead of Subat in second and Al Shalli SB in third.


The meeting concluded with the eighth race, where Dibawi Sand claimed first place under jockey Abdulrahman bin Talib al Farsi, trained by Othman Rashid al Hashmi, Prima Summer finished second, followed by Last Tradition in third.


The eighth race meeting at Al Rahba Racecourse successfully combined competitive racing with professional organisation, reinforcing its position as an important platform for the development of horse racing and the discovery of emerging talent across the Sultanate of Oman.
