

BARKA: The Rahba Racecourse in Barka witnessed an exciting day of competition on Thursday, as the Oman Horse Racing Club, under the supervision of the Oman Equestrian and Racing Federation, organised the third horse racing event of the 2025 season.
The event drew a large crowd of horse owners, trainers and fans, who gathered to enjoy an afternoon filled with speed, skill and sportsmanship, the race programme featured eight competitive rounds four for purebred Arabian horses, two for locally bred purebred Arabians and two for thoroughbred horses, each race showcased the growing talent of Omani jockeys and the steady progress of local stables, with thrilling finishes throughout the afternoon.
In the first race, victory went to SSR Talal, ridden by Hamad bin Sultan al Maliki and trained by Abdulaziz bin Salem al Rashidi, the mare Hala came second, while Nawader al Faisal finished third.
The second race was won by Fadhel, with Monis bin Salem al Siyabi in the saddle and Hassan bin Mohammed al Falahi as trainer, Kokin de Forest came second and Itchy de Nacre third.
In the third race, Baraa Samar claimed first place with Anas bin Salem al Siyabi as jockey and Mohammed bin Hamad al Hajri as trainer, Thunder Doro followed in second and Zaman took third.
The fourth race saw RB Jafed cross the finish line first under Adam bin Talib al Balushi, trained by Ahmed bin Ibrahim al Balushi, while Asad Al Maydan and Murshid Muscat came second and third respectively.
The fifth race was another triumph for Monis bin Salem al Siyabi, who guided Al Muqadam to victory for trainer Mohammed bin Issa al Balushi, ahead of Emperor Lotus and Al Kasih.
In the sixth race, Maqsoud, ridden by Mazen bin Mubarak al Yahyai and trained by Mahmoud bin Khamis al Balushi, took first place, followed by Cross the Ocean and Scott Pine.
The seventh race went to Saad, with Monis bin Salem al Siyabi once again taking the win under trainer Kahlan bin Mohammed al Balushi, Batash de Faust and BF Mohtaram followed in second and third places.
Finally, the eighth race saw Madhmoon claim the top spot, ridden by Al Mutasim bin Said al Balushi and trained by Hussain bin Ali al Sunaidy, followed by ZF Al Sarour and Qaiser Majan.
At the conclusion of the races, Abdulrazzaq al Shuhourzi, General Manager of Oman Horse Racing Club, praised the success of the event, saying “We witnessed an excellent day of competition marked by great organisation and strong performances, the riders and trainers showed impressive skill and dedication, these races play an essential role in developing the sport and discovering future talents who will continue Oman’s proud equestrian tradition.”
The day ended with an award ceremony honouring the winners amid a celebratory atmosphere that reflected Oman’s deep rooted passion for horses and the timeless beauty of its equestrian heritage.
