Al Rahba racecourse hosts the National Day cup

BARKA: The Oman Equestrian Federation organised the National Day Horse Race yesterday at the Rahba Racecourse in the Wilayat of Barka, as part of the federation’s celebrations of the country’s national occasion، the event attracted strong participation from stables, horse owners and jockeys, alongside notable public attendance, the race was held under the auspices of Guest of Honour HH Sayyid Namir bin Majid al Said, who crowned the winners at the conclusion of the competition.

The event featured eight competitive races, each offering a distinct level of challenge and showcasing the quality and readiness of local and Arab horses, the performances reflected the steady progression of horse racing standards in Oman and the growing capabilities of professional trainers and riders.

In the opening round, the mare Labwah Al Shahaniya, ridden by Abdulrahman bin Abdullah al Balushi and trained by Mohammed bin Abdullah al Balushi, secured first place, Finishing second was Shorouq Al Salam with jockey Mazin bin Mubarak al Yahyaei and trainer Mohammed bin Habib al Balushi, while Nawadir Al Faisal came in third under Amer bin Ali al Rasbi and trainer Nasser bin Hamed al Qutaiti.

The second round witnessed a dominant performance by Al Mahamed stable, as the colt SSR Talal clinched first place with jockey Al Mutasim bin Said al Balushi under the training of Abdulaziz bin Salim al Rashidi. The stable completed a one two finish with SSR Shaklan in second place ridden by Ahmed bin Mohammed al Siyabi, third place went to Mushrif Malik, ridden by Ibrahim bin Khamis al Hinai and trained by Abdullah bin Said al Kharousi.

Following the win, trainer Abdulaziz al Rashidi stated, “Today’s results are the outcome of precise preparation and teamwork. Both Talal and Shaklan were in top condition, and we look forward to even stronger performances throughout the season.”

Owner of the winning colt, Salim bin Said al Rashidi of Al Mahamed Stud, expressed his pride, saying, “Winning the National Day race means a great deal. Talal is a promising horse, and we expect a successful season ahead, God willing.”

In the third round, the mare Itlal Al Saif triumphed with jockey Adam bin Talib al Balushi and trainer Mohammed bin Hamed al Hajri, the horse Al Baaz finished second under Al Mutasim al Balushi and trainer Ahmed bin Said al Balushi, while BF Majeed took third place with jockey Wathab bin Said al Balushi under the training of Marwan bin Darwish al Balushi.

The fourth round was won by the horse Al Eqab, ridden by Ibrahim bin Khamis al Hinai and trained by Kahlan bin Mohammed al Balushi. SSR Naseem placed second under jockey Ahmed al Siyabi and trainer Abdulaziz al Rashidi, while SNS Somood finished third with jockey Mohammed bin Mahmoud al Farsi and trainer Majid bin Abdullah al Farsi.

In the fifth round, the horse Al Areeq claimed victory ridden by Mounis bin Salim al Siyabi and trained by Kahlan bin Mohammed al Balushi, BF Arkan secured second place under Amer al Rasbi and trainer Mahmood bin Khamis al Balushi, while Qaisar Majan came third with jockey Abdulaziz bin Fahd al Balushi and trainer Nasser al Qutaiti.

The sixth race saw Libyan Classic win first place with jockey Khalid bin Mahmood al Balushi and trainer Mohammed bin Habib al Balushi, Scott Pine finished second ridden by Adam al Balushi and trained by Ahmed bin Ibrahim al Balushi, while Oudy to Duty placed third with jockey Amer al Rasbi under trainer Mousa bin Mohammed al Balushi.

In the seventh race, the horse RB Blast delivered a strong performance to take first place with jockey Anas bin Salim al Siyabi and trainer Ahmed bin Ibrahim al Balushi, Bataash De Faust came second with jockey Mohammed al Farsi and trainer Majid al Farsi, while Ezmir De Carrier placed third ridden by Issa bin Mohammed al Balushi and trained by Mohammed bin Sulaiman al Balushi.

After his victory, jockey Anas al Siyabi remarked, “The race was fast and competitive, but RB Blast responded powerfully in the final stretch, I appreciate the trust and support from the trainer and team.”

The final race concluded with a win for Madhmoon, ridden by Al Mutasim bin Said al Balushi and trained by Hussain bin Ali al Sanidy. Shujaa Muscat followed in second place with jockey Adam al Balushi and trainer Hassan bin Mohammed al Falahi, while the colt SSR Kaheelan finished third under Ahmed bin Mohammed al Siyabi and trainer Abdulaziz al Rashidi.
