Muscat: Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun affirmed that his visit to the Sultanate of Oman and his meeting with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik will propel bilateral relations between the two countries toward broader horizons of economic and investment cooperation, facilitating investment opportunities and supporting trade exchange.
In a statement to the Oman News Agency, President Aoun highlighted the depth of historic relations between Oman and Lebanon and the commitment of both nations to continue developing these ties across various sectors for the benefit of their peoples.
He noted that the two countries are looking to build a strategic partnership based on shared interests, with a strong focus on enhancing cooperation in trade, retail, construction, manufacturing, transport, food services, artificial intelligence, education, agriculture, services and healthcare, in addition to activating transit links between the two countries. He pointed to recent economic indicators reflecting this direction, stating that trade exchange between Oman and Lebanon grew by 29.4 percent during the first half of 2025, and that the number of registered Lebanese companies in Oman exceeded 1,035 as of September 2025.
President Aoun stressed the importance of activating bilateral agreements in commercial, agricultural, health and cultural fields.
He also praised Oman’s widely recognized diplomatic role, emphasizing that Lebanon values the Sultanate’s balanced approach, which maintains equal distance from all parties and has enabled it to undertake key mediation efforts to help resolve conflicts and tensions in the region. He added that Lebanon is keen to restore ties with Arab countries, including enhancing communication with the GCC states.
The Lebanese president said his country is committed to prioritizing dialogue, explaining that he has called for rejecting wars and promoting negotiation as the pathway to resolving outstanding issues. He expressed hope for opening a new chapter in the region based on fair and comprehensive peace, in line with the Arab Peace Initiative adopted in Beirut in 2002.
