Ahoud bint Mohammed al Ghadaniyah, a PhD researcher at Sultan Qaboos University, has been awarded the L’Oréal-Unesco Young Talents in the Middle East 2025 award for her scientific research entitled “Designing Innovative Packaging to Reduce Post-Harvest Losses in Oman”. The research focuses on one of the most significant challenges in the food supply chain: post-harvest losses, by finding innovative solutions based on scientific research in the field of packaging design. Her work uses finite element modelling technology to simulate how agricultural products and their packaging respond to mechanical forces, such as vibrations during transport, with the aim of developing more efficient designs that help protect fruits and vegetables from damage in the supply chain. This award aims to promote the participation of young women in science from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Yemen, and rewards talented young female researchers in the field of life sciences.
