

MUSCAT: The Oman Equestrian Federation will organise the National Day Cup horse race on Saturday at the Al Rahba Racecourse in the Wilayat of Barka, marking one of the key sporting events celebrating the 55th National Day of the Sultanate of Oman. The event, held as part of the fifth race of the 2025-26 season, will bring together top stables and riders from across the Sultanate of Oman.
The race day will feature eight rounds, all dedicated to purebred Arabian horses, with distances ranging between 1,100 and 1,800 metres and total prizes exceeding RO 40,000.
The first round will be for purebred Arabian horses over 1,100 metres, with a prize of RO 2,000, followed by the second round over the same distance and prize. The third round, dedicated to four year old purebred Arabian horses, will also run over 1,100 metres for a prize of RO 2,500.
The fourth and fifth rounds will be held for the Late Shaikh Salim bin Sulaiman al Fairouz Cup, each over 1,600 metres, with a prize of RO 5,000 for each round.
The highlight of the day will be the final three races, all held under the prestigious 55th National Day Cup. The sixth and seventh rounds will cover 1,600 metres, each carrying a RO 9,000 prize, while the eighth and final round, the main race of the day, will stretch to 1,800 metres with a RO 10,000 prize for the winner.
Organised by the Oman Equestrian Federation, the National Day Cup race represents more than a sporting competition, it stands as a proud reflection of Oman’s equestrian legacy and its deep rooted cultural identity. The event reinforces the federation’s ongoing efforts to preserve the heritage of Arabian horse racing, promote the sport among younger generations and showcase Oman’s commitment to excellence and tradition in the world of equestrianism.
