Sayyid Bilarab presides over military music show

MUSCAT: HH Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham al Said on Thursday presided over the Military Music: Oman and the World show, organised by the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) on the occasion of the glorious National Day. The concert, which is held over three consecutive evenings with the participation of Omani Military Music ensembles and a number of international bands, continues ROHM’s annual tradition of presenting military music performances every November, with Omani military bands alongside a number of international ensembles in celebration of this joyous occasion.

From Oman, the Royal Guard of Oman (RGO), the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO), the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) and the Royal Oman Police (ROP), in addition to the Royal Cavalry, the Royal Camel Corps, the Scout Music Band, and the Infantry Band from the Royal Army of Oman (RAO) are taking part.

These ensembles provide a perfect opportunity to witness the high precision of military parades, hear bagpipes, drums, and wind instruments, and other selected displays.

Embodying the close relations and openness that connect the Sultanate of Oman with the countries of the world, this year’s ceremony saw the participation of an elite group of musicians and artists from the Kingdom of Belgium. Their participation reaffirms the depth of civilisational and cultural communication with the Sultanate of Oman and enriches the event with spectacular military shows and captivating traditional segments, presented in their traditional costumes which reflect ancient heritage.

The audience witnessed displays of artistic skills in exquisite formations set to the rhythms of military music, in addition to viewing performances by percussion bands in a ceremony that included various heritage segments. The show also featured the participation of a group of the most skilled Omani musicians. — ONA
