Muscat: The International Basketball Federation (Fiba) has praised the efforts of the Oman Basketball Association (OBA) for successfully implementing the 'Her World, Her Rules' programme, targeting girls aged 6 to 16 and achieving notable results in promoting the sport among young female players in Oman. The commendation came through a report presented by Fiba's Secretary-General during the Fiba meeting held in India, which highlighted Oman’s organisation of four sports festivals as part of the programme, reaching girls within the specified age group.
The 'Her World, Her Rules' initiative is one of Fiba's most prominent global programmes dedicated to developing girls’ basketball, aiming to expand the base of female players worldwide through various activities implemented in collaboration with national federations. Oman was selected as the official media campaign hub for the 2024 global edition of the initiative, reflecting the success and effectiveness of its implementation.
The programme is designed to provide a supportive and inspiring environment for girls to enter the world of basketball by offering diverse activities that contribute to discovering and developing new talents. It targets schoolgirls aged 6 to 15, in addition to their mothers, recognising the vital role of family as a key supporter in enabling girls to continue their journey in the sport.
