Muscat crowned U-17 Handball League champions

MUSCAT: Muscat Club retained the title of the Handball League for the 2025/2026 sports season after a commanding 30–20 victory over Seeb in the final match held on Wednesday evening at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, the event was held under the auspices of Jihad bin Abdullah al Shaikh, Chairman of Oman Club and attended by Moosa bin Khamis al Balushi, Chairman of the Oman Handball Association (OHA), along with several board members and representatives of participating clubs.


The final witnessed a vibrant and competitive atmosphere with remarkable organisation inside the venue, Muscat dominated the match from the opening minutes, capitalising on its players’ experience and team chemistry to end the first half with a 15–10 lead.

In the second half, coach Majid bin Hamad al Hasani guided his team with a solid defensive structure and fast, well organised attacks, allowing Muscat to extend their lead and seal a 30–20 victory, this triumph marked Muscat’s second consecutive and seventh overall league title, reaffirming the club’s dominance in the youth handball category.


Coach Majid al Hasani expressed his delight with the achievement, emphasising that the victory was the result of collective effort, discipline and teamwork from both players and technical staff, highlighted that maintaining the title demonstrates the club’s stability and its strong youth development system.


In his speech, the guest of honour Jihad bin Abdullah al Shaikh praised the excellent organisation of the final match and the high level of sportsmanship displayed by all teams stated “Muscat Club has always been a cradle for emerging talents, consistently building strong and well-prepared teams. Their victory tonight reflects their dedication and long term vision, the beautiful organisation of this final also showcases the Oman Handball Association’s efforts in nurturing youth categories and strengthening the sport across the Sultanate of Oman.”

Despite the loss, Seeb delivered a strong performance but struggled to overcome Muscat’s experience and tactical discipline, settling once again for second place for the fourth consecutive season.


Earlier in the evening, Nizwa claimed third place after defeating Ahli Sidab 28–25 in a thrilling and closely contested match.


The championship concluded with an award ceremony where Muscat’s players received the championship trophy and gold medals, Seeb were honoured with silver medals and Nizwa took home the bronze medals, marking the end of an exciting season that highlighted the growing strength of Omani youth handball.
