

MUSCAT, NOV 4
In an electrifying atmosphere at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, Muscat Club claimed the Youth Handball League title for the 2025-26 season after defeating Seeb 28–23 in a thrilling final held at the complex’s secondary hall.
The match began with both teams evenly matched in skill and intensity, trading goals and maintaining a tight scoreline throughout the first half. Muscat gained a slight edge midway through the period, while Seeb fought back late in the quarter to narrow the gap. The first half ended with Muscat leading 13–11 after a balanced and fast-paced contest.
The second half opened with great excitement as Seeb scored the first goal, raising hopes of a comeback, However, Muscat soon regained control through precise teamwork and quick counter-attacks, extending their lead steadily. With disciplined defence and effective finishing, Muscat secured a 28–23 victory to lift the championship trophy amid loud cheers from the passionate crowd.
Qais al Hasani, Muscat’s assistant coach, praised his players’ composure and tactical execution, saying: “The team showed excellent focus and discipline, especially in the second half. They followed instructions perfectly and proved their physical and technical readiness for such a final.”
Team captain Maamoun al Hasani expressed gratitude for the remarkable fan turnout, adding: “Our biggest motivation was the incredible support from the fans. It was the first time we witnessed such a large crowd in youth handball games and their energy pushed us to victory.”
Guest of honour Ahmed bin Abdullah al Owaisi, Chairman of Al Shabab Football Club, commended the organisation and quality of the final, saying: “It was an impressive event that reflects the growth of Omani handball. We’re seriously considering forming a handball team at Al Shabab Club to participate next season.”
On the other side, Seeb’s coach Ali al Balushi attributed the loss to minor tactical lapses, stating:
“The players rushed their attacks in the second half and struggled to hear instructions due to the crowd noise, but we’ll address these issues in our upcoming review session.”
Meanwhile, Moosa bin Khamis al Balushi, Chairman of the Oman Handball Association (OHA), praised the high level of competition, noting: “It was a strong final between two excellent teams. Interestingly, this is the second Muscat–Seeb final this season after the under 17 title, which Muscat also won. We encourage all clubs to participate actively to strengthen the league’s success.”
Earlier in the day, Nizwa defeated Al Oruba 44–34 to secure third place, while Al Oruba finished fourth, concluding a highly competitive and entertaining season.
