MUSCAT: The Oman Tennis Association took part in the meeting of the Gulf Tennis Organising Committee held in Bahrain, represented by Osman al Raisi. The meeting was attended by representatives of all Gulf tennis federations and chaired by Shaikh Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Tennis Federation.

During the meeting, several key topics were discussed, most notably the calendar of age-category competitions among the national teams of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The committee approved a number of tournaments, including the Gulf Teams Championship for the U12, U16 and Open categories, to be hosted in Saudi Arabia, with the proposed timing set immediately after the Eid Al Fitr holiday.

Additionally, it was agreed to hold the Gulf Women’s Championship during the same period and in the same country, for both U16 and women’s categories. The Gulf Singles and Doubles Championship 2026 was also approved, with the hosting country and date to be determined later, as well as the Gulf U10 Championship 2026, whose venue and date will likewise be confirmed in due course.

The meeting also discussed various aspects related to hosting and facilitating the participation of all Gulf teams to ensure the success of their involvement. Members of the organising committee placed particular emphasis on the importance of developing youth and junior teams, which are seen as the foundation for building future national squads, as well as on maintaining the continuity of organising Gulf tournaments on a regular basis.
