MUSCAT, SEPT 27

Oman Club earned a valuable 1–0 victory over hosts Al Shabab in their third-round Jindal League clash at the Seeb Sports Stadium.

The match began with Al Shabab pressing hard, nearly taking the lead in the 4th minute through Ahmed al Riyami, but his shot went wide. Gradually, Oman Club found their rhythm in midfield and created some opportunities. The biggest chance of the half came in the 41st minute when Al Riyami’s strike for Al Shabab rattled the crossbar.

In stoppage time of the first half, Walid al Musallami stunned the crowd with a spectacular long-range effort from midfield that sailed past goalkeeper Ibrahim al Mukhaini, putting Oman ahead with a wonder goal.

The second half saw Al Shabab throw men forward in search of an equaliser, but Oman’s organised defence and goalkeeper Abdulaziz al Hasani stood firm. Both managers made substitutions to freshen up their sides, yet the scoreline remained unchanged until the final whistle. Oman Club walked away with all three points.

With this win, Oman Club climbed to 6 points in sixth place, equal with Al Shabab, who also have 6 points but slipped to fifth in the table, losing ground in the chase for the top spot.

SOUTHERN DERBY ENDS IN STALEMATE

Al Nasr and Dhofar shared the spoils with a 1–1 draw in a highly anticipated southern derby at the Al Saada Sports Complex, played in front of a large crowd as part of the third round of the Jindal League.

The first half was evenly balanced, with both sides trading attacks but failing to score. Jordanian international Munther Omar Abu Amara came close for Dhofar from a free kick, only to be denied by goalkeeper Ibrahim Al Rajhi. Al Nasr responded with a series of attempts, the most dangerous being Hussein al Shahri’s strike in the 30th minute that narrowly missed. The half ended goalless, with Mohammed al Habsi’s header for Dhofar drifting just wide.

After the break, Al Nasr pressed forward and broke the deadlock in the 56th minute through Mulham al Sunaidy, who finished off a well-worked move with a confident strike past Mazin al Kasbi. Dhofar hit back quickly, however, as Mohammed al Habsi leveled in the 62nd minute, converting a cross inside the box.

The final minutes saw Al Nasr waste chances to reclaim the lead through Al Shahri and Yemeni forward Omar al Dahhi, while Dhofar’s attempts fizzled out. The match ended in a fair draw, granting both sides a point.

Al Nasr’s tally rose to 7 points, placing them third, while Dhofar lifted their total to just 1 point, leaving them in 11th and far from the leading pack.
