YANQUL: The Mazoon Mining Company, part of Oman Minerals Development Company, will mark a significant milestone with the foundation-laying ceremony for the Mazoon Copper Project in Yanqul, Al Dhahirah Governorate, on November 10.

Spanning 20 square kilometres, this project will focus on producing copper concentrates and includes five mines and a processing plant designed to handle 2.5 million tonnes of copper ore annually.

This project, featuring comprehensive residential and administrative facilities, represents a major advancement for Oman’s mining sector. It positions the Sultanate of Oman as a key player in copper concentrate production, bolstering the local economy and extending value chains within the industry. The project is also expected to bring economic benefits to Al Dhahirah Governorate, particularly to the Wilayat of Yanqul. — ONA
