MANAH: The Sultan Qaboos Institute for Teaching Arabic Language to Non-native Speakers received a new batch of international students, on Sunday.

The new batch comprises 26 students from the UK, Ireland, France, Poland, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Brunei Darussalam, South Korea, Iran, Kazakhstan and South Africa.

On the first day, the institute conducted an induction meeting to familiarize the students with the teaching and administrative staff and the officials supervising the cultural programmes for the current course. The students viewed a visual display of the Sultanate of Oman and its culture, civilization and tourism potentials. They were also familiarized with the programmes for integration with the local community through trips, visits and varied activities.

The students will have a tour in the Wilayat of Manah to explore its historic landmarks. They will have a meeting with the language partners of the current course to identify the cultural and civilizational identity of the Sultanate of Oman.

The 8-week long course will end on March 9 with a total of 160 teaching hours during which the students will learn Arabic language skills and Arabic calligraphy and will receive various cultural lectures.
