MUSCAT: Oman Air, the national airline of the Sultanate of Oman, has announced the appointment of Majid Sulaiman al Qassabi (pictured) as its new Country Manager - Oman. An aviation veteran with a career spanning 14 years, Al Qassabi has held leadership positions at several top companies in Oman and the wider GCC region, having begun his journey at Oman Air. On his return to the company, his new role will include managing the sales, operations and business development in Oman, the airline’s home-base and one of its key markets.

Ahmed Ali al Mahrouqi, Regional Vice President - Oman & GCC, commented, “We are delighted to have Majid return to our team, whose wealth of experience is certain to add significant value to the future direction of the airline. As Country Manager, he is anticipated to steer our new strategy to reinforce ourselves as Oman’s airline of first choice, while continuing to stay true to our brand ethos to provide our guests with an exceptional travel experience.” Al Qassabi has built up an impressive track record, having worked in major airlines and travel technology companies across Oman and the GCC. Most recently, he was part of the launch team for Oman’s first low-cost carrier, where he built an extensive network of B2B partnerships, both with travel agents and corporate clients. He holds a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Coventry University, UK, and a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism from Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), Oman.

Oman Air benefits from highly experienced and qualified Omanis at every level of the company. Having achieved an Omanisation rate of 94 per cent (excluding female cabin crew), the airline provides rich and varied career development opportunities, as well as internships and graduate training programmes that expand horizons for young Omanis and boost its contribution to the national economy.
