Muscat edge Al Ittihad; Al Mussnah stun Al Suwaiq

Muscat: Muscat club registered their second victory in the league as they edged Al Ittihad 2-0 on Saturday in the 11th week of 2021/2022 Omantel League.


After their loss in the previous round against Sohar, Muscat club, coached by the experienced national coach Haitham al Alawi, bounced back strongly with the win.


The triumph took the capital city team to seventh point and equalised the opponent Al Ittihad who possess the same points. Munther al Wahaibi gave the hosts the lead in the 38th minute.


In the second half, Shawqi al Raqadi made it 2-0 after scoring the second goal which delivered the match points to Muscat team.


At Al Rustaq Sports Complex, Al Mussnah returned to the winning ways as they defeated Al Suwaiq 2-1 in a thriller.


Ahmed 'Kanu' and his teammates played a role in the fixture after the referee showed red card for Omar al Fazari in the 44th minute and Al Suwaiq players continued the show with ten-players.


The southern Batinah team managed to revert to the victory line after their defeat from Al Rustaq in the last week.


The win took coach Hussain al Saadi’s men to the 19th points while Al Suwaiq remained at the12th point.


Naseeb al Ghilani and Majid al Saadi scored for the winner while Essam al Subhi netted the regulation goal for Al Suwaiq.

SOHAR WIN


Sohar snatched a crucial 2-1 win from Nizwa at the latter’s home in Nizwa Sports Complex.


Despite the loss, Nizwa player Emboyo Twetti Juniors netted the first goal for his team in the league. Sohar’s goals were scored by Ahero Romanroov and Abdo Lai in the 16th and 30th minutes respectively.


With the triumph against Nizwa, the northern Batinah team registered their second successive win after the victory against Muscat team in the last week.


Sohar, under new chairmanship Dawood al Shizawi, managed to reach 15 points while Nizwa are struggling at the bottom with four points only.


Oman club missed a golden victory as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Al Nahdha in the dying minutes. Manaa al Mukhaini scored the equaliser for the hosts in the 90th minute to clinch one point from the match.


Coach Ibrahim Somar's men began the match strongly as they netted the opening goal by Mohsin Jawher in the tenth minute. Fahad al Hajri score the equaliser in earlier part of the second half.


Dawood brought his team again in the lead but al Mukhaini ended the match at a 2-2 draw. Al Nahdha's tally was increased to 19 points while Oman club went up to 16.
