Seeb overwhelm Al Ittihad to go top in league order

Muscat: Seeb thrashed Al Ittihad as they won the fixture 5-0 in the seventh week of the Omantel League on Sunday night.


At Seeb Stadium, Seeb players dominated the encounter and the match was completely one-sided.


Sultanate of Oman player Abdulaziz al Maqbali was the star performer as he struck a hat-trick in the match.


Seeb's earlier goals were netted by Abdulaziz al Maqbali while Eid al Farsi added the third goal.


Al Maqbali returned again to score the fourth goal and his team-mate Al Mundher al Alawi registered the fifth goal.


The Seeb players managed to return back to the victories loop after they draw with Oman in the previous round.


The triumph took Seeb to the top as they reached to 15th point while the Salalah representative club is struggling in the danger zone at three points only and the team suffered fourth defeat in the league.


Al Nahdha, coached by former national team head coach Hamed al Azani, snatched one point from Al Nasr at Al Saada Stadium as the match ended at 1-1.


Despite Al Nahdha being the better side in the first half after missing many scoring opportunities, Hamed al Habsi put the hosts ahead in the earlier of second half after the first half ended in a goalless draw.


Mohammed Khaseeb’s header helped the guests to score the equaliser in the 68th minute. With the draw, Al Nahdha added one point and reached 12 points while Al Nasr at 14 points.


Bahla continued missing points as they registered their third successive draw in the league.


The match against Sohar ended by 1-1 at Nizwa Sports Complex.


Despite Bahla leading the result by Majid al Shukaili in the 78th minute, Sohar’s Abdo Lai managed to score the equaliser within seven minutes only in the 85th minute.


The draw gave one point to each team as Bahla raised the tally to ten points while Sohar reached eight points.
