Oman club thrash Nizwa, Seeb edge Sohar

Oman club registered their second successive win on Wednesday in the fifth week of Omantel league. Hosts Oman thrash Nizwa 7-0 in Seeb Stadium.

The league resumed following short break due to national team’s attendance in AFC Asian qualifiers - Road to Qatar.

Oman’s Mohsin Jawher opened the account in the 21st minute. In the second half, Yazeed al Rawahi netted another goal in the 54th minute.

The same player managed to add the third goal for the hosts in the 65th minute before Kusmos Daoda added two goals through scoring fourth and fifth goal in the 73rd and 78th minute.

Yazeed returned to score hat-trick in the 80th minute while Abdulwahed al Hinai ended the campaign by scoring a seventh goal in the dying minutes.

With the triumph, Oman reached the seventh point from five games while Nizwa is struggling in the bottom with two points only in the account.

Seeb’s Mohsin al Ghassani netted the winner against Sohar to deliver a crucial victory for his team in the fifth week of the top-tier league.

The only goal in the fixture was scored in the dying minutes.

With the winner, Seeb moved to point 11 while Sohar remained at fourth point.

Al Rustaq returned back to the winning loop after two defeats in the previous rounds as they edged Muscat club 2-1 in Al Rustaq Sports Complex.

Oman national football team player, Mohammed al Ghafri, scored the opening goal in the 22nd minute while Khalil al Alawi added the second goal in the 59th minute. The consolation goal for the visitor came by Jaweed al Balushi in the 83rd minute. The win took Al Rustaq to seventh point while Muscat freezed at the single point after the fifth round. Saham snatch essential draw from Bahla as they played out 1-1 draw at the Nizwa Sports Complex.

Bahla’s Wali Adeer put his team ahead in the 27th minute while Saham’s Khalifa al Jahwari netted the equaliser in the 86th minute.

The draw added one point to the hosts to reach eighth point while Saham still in the bottom with three points only.
