Sultanate sees fall in sick patients

The number of sick Covid-19 patients in the country saw a major decline on Monday.


According to the latest estimates, the number of active cases dropped from 29,009 to 27,255 on Monday, which means only 6.33 per cent of the total infected patients are sick compared to 10.54 per cent on Sunday.


The total recovery rate also improved to 88.5 from 88.3 per cent in the past 24 hours.


Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health on Monday reported 1,570 new cases and 33 deaths over the past 24 hours.


The daily deaths also dropped to 33 from the mid-forties recorded most of the week.


The total number of cases registered in the Sultanate has now reached 276,736, including 3,316 deaths.


The inpatients in hospitals saw a marginal decline from 1,589 to 1,554, while the ICU patients also declined from 532 to 506. New hospital patients also dropped from 171.


The ministry has announced that the number of people vaccinated stood at 1,966,838, which is 30 per cent of the total target groups, of which 78 per cent received one dose and 22 per cent received two doses.


The number of Covid-19 patients in Sultan Qaboos University Hospital has increased to 109, including four patients who were admitted during the past 24 hours, while the bed capacity reached 91, with an occupancy rate was 120 per cent.


The hospital confirmed that the critical cases in intensive care that depend on artificial respiration were 51, including a case that was transferred during the past 24 hours at a rate of two per cent.


The latest indicators for Covid-19 patients indicated that the number of patients dependent on ventilators is 30, including a case that was entered during the past 24 hours, at a rate of three per cent.


The number of patients in the Covid-19 sections reached 25, of which three were admitted during the past 24 hours, at a rate of five per cent.
