Thundershowers in several parts of Oman

Oman Meteorology reported an accumulation of cumulus clouds over the Al Hajar Mountains and the adjacent areas on Friday, leading to thunderstorms, accompanied by active downward winds and hailstorms in Al Dhahirah Governorate.


Thunderstorms hit farms in the Wilayat of Ibri, causing damage to the properties in the town.


Rains of varying intensity and hail also fell on the Wilayat of Yanqul on Friday afternoon, which also led to the flow of valleys.


The storm was strong, accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds, which led to the fall of many palm trees and also caused damage to the properties in their homes and farms. Poles were also uprooted in some areas.


Along with the coastal areas of the Sea of Oman, winds will be northeasterly light to moderate during the day becoming variable light at night, and southwesterly moderate to fresh along with the coastal areas of the Arabian Sea while it will be easterly to southeasterly light to moderate over the rest of the Sultanate and northwesterly light to moderate over Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates during tomorrow.


Chance of fresh to strong winds during thundershowers.


Rough along Arabian Sea coasts with a maximum wave height of 5.5 meters and slight along the rest of the coast with a maximum wave height of 1.25 meters.
