Heavy rains lash parts of Oman

The aerial satellite image shows cumulus clouds in the skies of the Sultanate, resulting in heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms in several areas around Al Hajar Mountains and Al Dhahirah deserts, Dhofar Mountains and the surrounding areas.


The met department has warned of a decrease in horizontal visibility.


The National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre’s weather analysis has indicated that the Sultanate will be affected by a trough of low pressure (Al Khair Trough) between April 29 and May 1.


There is a possibility of rains of varying intensity, thunderstorms, accompanied by active winds, and hail in most of the governorates of the Sultanate


Royal Oman Police has warned of flowing wadis due to heavy rains in the Governorate of Musandam and areas around the Hajar Mountains and its adjacent areas. There are also chances of rising dust in open places.


The sea state will be moderate with a maximum wave height of 2.5 meters.


Oman Meteorology called on citizens and residents to take caution during heavy rains that may lead to flowing wadis.
