New guidelines for sending students abroad discussed

MUSCAT: The Board of Trustees of Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) on Saturday held its fourth meeting this year under the chairmanship of Dr Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, Vice-Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) at the board’s premises in Al Athaiba. The board members discussed the regulations for sending students abroad and the new rules, requirements and procedures of the progressive overseas medical training.


The meeting also discussed the restructuring of OMSB which will be overseen by experts specialising in development, studying the nature of institutions and improving the skills of employees. It also reviewed clinical pathologists’ reports as well as observations made by a number of international academic accreditation organisations. The meeting also reviewed the new fellowship programme directory in terms of structuring the procedures required for medical fellowship and all the aspects related to the educational methodology, the rights and duties of trainers and trainees, the teaching staff and the training programmes. — ONA
